K-5 Literacy Textbook Evaluation This communication did not require a response.
In addition to thanking OCPS for soliciting the public's feedback on the pending textbook acquisition, the aim of this letter was to memorialize the evaluation of the suitability of the three textbook providers.
  • Only one textbook provider, Amplify-CKLA, steered clear of undesireable DEI and SEL ideology in their curriculum.

Laura Byram, OCPS School Board Clerk and FOIA Officer FOIA request for information on OCPS 2023-2024 school budget The response received back from OCPS was completely non-responsive to any of the requests made in the FOIA request letter.
  • The response to the request for data existing data in an Excel spreadsheet was summarily rejected on the basis it is available on the OCPS website.
    • This completely misses the point for the reason for making the request to begin with.
    • The detail information on the website consists of ~1800 line items spanning 24 pages of small font text in a flat pdf file which cannot be searched, sorted, and analyzed unless manually typed into a spreadsheet.
    • If OCPS were willing, it could resolve these issues by providing the public the spreadsheet it used to create the pdf document in the first place!
  • The response to all other questions was that "the data does not exist, because it was never created".
