New Homes - IG Department tips
First impressions generally are lasting !!!!!!
- Walk your houses as you were the buyer
- Organize your inspection so you are looking for the same issues as the IG
- Use our lists (as presented here) as a punch out guide
- If you disagree, discuss objectively
- Communicate with IG any product changes that may affect the inspection
- Keep your job sites clean and organized
- Lead walks, steps and porches not 100% cleaned
- Loose towel bars and toilet paper holders
- Paint on door weather stripping
- Light fixtures crooked, not centered and not at equal height
- Paint on shoe mold
- Doors not shimmed properly
- Scratches on cabinets
- Dents in metal doors
- Crooked floor registers
- Caps missing on sump pump covers
- Paint on door latches, hinges, etc.
- Gouges and bad repairs of same in trim
- Areaways not cleaned
- Foundations painted over dirt and waterproofing material
- Dirt and/or paint in v-joint hardwood
- Debris and paint on roofs (all roof types)
- Crooked ceiling registers
- Improper hanging of louver doors
- Shimming of interior doors
- Dirty fireplace screens
- Caps on gas burners not set properly
- Garage slabs not formed properly
- Job sites ( neat and clean)
- Site fence
- Storage of material
